Anthropogenic effects on New Hampshire surface water quality: Long term evidence from lake sediments. Technical completion report

Description

The effects of an unlined municipal sanitary landfill on the Frazier Brook and Eagle Pond system in central New Hampshire were investigated through analysis of metal content in the sediment. Analysis of groundwater quality trends from monitoring wells around the landfill suggest that leachate is being generated and transported with the groundwater towards Frazier Brook. Water quality samples collected from piezometers downgradient of the landfill indicate the groundwater entering Frazier Brook contains metals at concentrations that are above background levels
