Structure and evolution of active galactic nuclei

  • 1. Trieste Univ. (Italy). Dipt. di Astronomia
  • 2. Osservatorio Astronomico, Trieste (Italy)

Description

The structure and the evolution of the active galactic nuclei is the subject of these proceedings. The invited lectures, as well as the poster papers collected, cover, as main topics, the shape and the evolution of the luminosity function of AGNs, their radio, IR, optical, UV and X-ray properties, accretion disks and, in general, the nature of the central energy source and the possible mechanisms responsible for the formation of the high energy spectrum and emission/absorption lines. The possible connections and continuities between properties of different AGNs families are particularly stressed. The topics are covered from both an observational and a theoretical point of view.
