Process for the recovery of uranium as UF4 from phosphated solutions

Description

Uranium in solution is reduced at the tetravalent state, extracted by organic solvents (mono or dialkyphenylphosphoric acid alkylpyrophosphoric acid diluted by a hydrocarbon) and reextracted by diluted hydrofluoric acid. The emulsion obtained is separated from the desuraniated solvent which is recycled after addition of pure solvent. The process is characterized by introduction of UF4 during reextraction by HF reducing solvent consumption

Abstract (French)

Le procede comporte les etapes suivantes: reduction de l'uranium contenu dans la solution a l'etat tetravalent; extraction dudit uranium au moyen d'un solvant organique appartenant au groupe constitue par les melanges d'acide mono et dialkylphenylphosphoriques et les acides alkylpyrophosphoriques dilues dans un hydrocarbure; reextraction de l'uranium par une solution aqueuse d'acide fluorhydrique; separation du solvant desuranie de l'emulsion formee et recyclage a l'extraction avec un appoint de solvant pur. Ce procede est caracterise en ce que l'on introduit de l'UF4 dans la solution de reextraction reduisant ainsi la consommation de solvant
