The latest X-ray apparatus and leak detectors for nondestructive inspection

With the increasing emphasis laid on the necessity of in-service inspection of pressure vessels and heavy oil tanks as well as on the saving of materials, nondestructive inspection is now practiced widely more and more. Dealt with herein are the X-ray apparatus for inspecting internal defects and leak detectors for airtight tests. As for the former, beginning with a mention of the present status of gas-insulated X-ray, units, then the writers describe chiefly the practical examples of X-ray TV sets. Regarding the latter, description is made about a simple leak detector newly developed for OEM and the helium leak detector that is increasingly utilized in production lines of late. (auth.)
