Description

The results of physico-chemical investigations and obtaining of monocrystals of solid solutions on the base of Tl2S and CdS, Tlsub(2-x)Cdsub(x)S and Cdsub(1-X)Tlsub(x)S with minor component content not exceeding 1 at.% are presented. Monocrystals of Tlsub(2-x)Cdsub(x)S solid solutions are grown by the Bridgman method at (5 mm/h rate while those of Cdsub(1-x)Tlsub(x)S by gas-transport reactions (I2 carrier) method. The absence of mutual solUbility of CdS, Tl2S, Tl and Cd phases is explained by a great value of ΔHsub(cm) mixing enthalpy in substituting a considerably smaller but Cd2+ two-charge cation for a large-size Tl+ one-charge cation
