Computed tomography of the liver and spleen with iodinated fat emulsion
Description
Fifty-three patients received a new intravenous contrast material for computed tomography (CT) scans of the liver and spleen. Marked increase in the attenuation coefficients of both organs resulted without increased attenuation of hepatic or splenic tumor. The increased density differential between the normal and abnormal tissue facilitated detection of numerous lesions not visualized on preliminary or water-soluble contrast enhanced scans. Patient tolerance of the new contrast agent was acceptable. (Auth.)
