Tests of the drift chamber system on the JINR synchrophasotron

Description

Determination of the basic characteristics of a drift-chamber system under real operation conditions is the aim of paper. The system of three 150x150 mm proportional chambers and four 200x200 mm drift chambers is in one-line operation with the NR-2116 V computer. The data are processed in two stages: determination of the transfer function parameters for the transition from the time values stored by the detecting electronic circuits to the coordinates of the particle trajectory points; determination of the accuracy and effectiveness of the drift chambers. The accuracy and effectiveness are calculated on the basis of track recognition. A set of points inside a 6 mm wide corridor including a subset of points from the drift chambers inside a 1.6 mm corridor is considered as a track. The total total number of points in a track should be at least 6; among them, at least three points should correspond to a drift chamber. The effectiveness of the drift chambers is found to be 99%. The spatial accuracy is 0.16 mm
