Production and distribution of enriched stable isotopes
Description
Approximately 225 nongaseous stable isotopes from 50 multi-isotopic elements are isotopically enriched using the electromagnetic process at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Enriched materials are distributed throughout the world for a wide range of uses, including medical research and health care programs. The basis of the separation process is described, as well as state-of-the-art techniques to achieve special isotopic, chemical, and physical requirements. A general review of the stable isotope enrichment and distribution program is presented
