Pressure induced charge disproportionation in LaMnO3

Description
We present a study of total energy as a function of volume in the cubic phase of LaMnO3. A state of charge disproportionation into planes of Mn3+O2/Mn4+O2 was found. It is argued that the pressure driven localization/delocalization transition might go smoothly through a region of Mn3+ and Mn4+ coexistence
