CINDA enhancements at Hughes for cryogenic thermal studies

Creators

Description

The CINDA family (SINDA, MITAS, etc.) is a set of highly flexible thermal analysis programs, adaptable to the special problems that occur in cryogenics. These problems principally arise from the extreme temperature-dependencies typical of thermal conductivities, specific heats and refrigerator performance at cryogenic temperatures. This paper describes the special additions that were made to Hughes version of CINDA for such applications. These included improved transient analysis techniques, methods to model the heat transfer between structures and fluids and improved steady state convergence techniques. These techniques should be applicable to all CINDA family programs as well as other finite differencing analyzers
