Operation of the annular pulsed column, (1)

  • 1. Central Research Inst. of Electric Power Industry, Komae, Tokyo (Japan). Komae Research Lab.

Description

Hydrodynamic and dispersion tests were performed with a baffle plate annular type pulsed column, similar type column being planned to be employed in the first commercial nuclear fuel reprocessing plant in Japan. The following results were obtained. I, Under the low pulse energy condition, the dispersion of the aqueous phase is imperfect when the baffle plates is wet with water beforehand start-up. II, The relation between the Sauter mean diameter (D32) and the pulse energy (A+f) was investigated and well correlated with equation D32 = 14.7 (A+f)-1.4. III, The holdup of the dispersion phase was measured and the experimental equation was introduced which expresses the correlation between holdup and the operation condition. (author)
