Simple estimates for Fermi jets
Description
Window friction is one of the proposed mechanisms to understand a deep inelastic heavy ion reaction. Several authors investigated the implication that an early opening of the window allows the prompt emission of nucleons: due to the still high ion-ion relative velocity adding to the Fermi motion, some nucleons might get enough momentum not only to cross the window but actually to leave the system (Fermi jets, PEPS). A simple model is presented which allows for an aproximate estimate of the expected cross sections for a wide variety of heavy ion reactions
