Control of mode locking of tearing mode by lower hybrid current drive and electron cyclotron heating in WT-3

  • 1. Kyoto Univ. (Japan). Dept. of Physics

Description

In the WT-3 tokamak, it is found that mode locking of an m=2 tearing mode is artificially induced by lower hybrid current drive (LHCD). The mode locking is always followed by a major disruption. By applying electron cyclotron heating (ECH), steady MHD oscillations reappear and a disruption can be avoided. (author)
