CP violation in KL → π0e+e-

Description

It's been appreciated for many years that the decays KL → π0 ell bar ell are CP violating to lowest order in the Standard Model, and that the component of direct CP violation in these decays is likely to be comparable to that of the CP violation due to state mixing (ε). This is to be contrasted with the case of K0 → ππ wherein the latter contribution is predicted to be hundreds of times larger than the former. This paper investigates this CP violation further. 19 refs., 2 figs
