Description

This is a study about the beneficial aspects and the problems raised by the implementation of a high voltage interconnecting system in Europe. There are stressed advantages as: leveling of the demand curves on account of the different local time, general distribution of the hydroelectric power produced in the northern part of the continent, reducing of the average electric energy costs by eliminating the intermediate agents. As for the environmental impact such a network could be a solution to the following problems: balancing the water resources, the waste water disposal and its treatment, reducing pollution and diminishing the greenhouse effect, acid rains and dangerous gas emission.
