Geochemical characteristics of Alabama's and Gulocagi Mineralizations, Kaman-Kirsehir, Central Turkey

Description

The Asilimbel and Gulocagi iron deposits lie some 15km west of Kirsehir town (Turkey). Mineralization occurs within metamorphic rocks of Paleozoic age. They show no bedding or any other sedimentary structures. The ores mostly occurs as veins, lenses and occasionally irregular bodies. Widespread specification produced by the effect of hydrothermal solutions can be seen in these rocks. Birnessite mineral found in the Asilimbel area is one of the indications of its hydrothermal origin. Contents of major and trace elements, a negative Ce anomaly, as well as the mode of occurrence, point to a hydrothermal original for these deposits. (author)
