determination of 234U/238U activity ratio in Syrian phosphates

Description
The concentrations of uranium and the sup 2 sup 3 sup 4 U/ sup 2 sup 3 sup 8 U ratio in natural Syrian phosphates were measured by gamma- and alpha-ray spectroscopy. The sup 2 sup 3 sup 4 U/ sup 2 sup 3 sup 8 U activity ratios showed that uranium in Syrian phosphate is in equilibrium under the climatic conditions. Soma anomalous observations in these ratios were explained by earlier leaching of the phosphate by water (rain or other). (author)
