Multifrequency Eddy current testing of heat exchange tubes with a rotating probe
Description
Multi-frequency eddy current analyses have been used in France industrially since 1975. In light of the experienced gained during many steam generator inspections, this technique was applied to the examination of sheet and tube heat exchangers featuring tubes in very different materials such as copper, stainless steel and titanium. The principle of multi-frequency Eddy current inspection is first reviewed, using the example of a condenser with nickel alloy tubes (Inconel, Incoloy). This is followed by the description of a specific application of this technique to a condenser with titanium tubes, analyzed with a rotating local probe
Abstract (French)
Les examens par courants de Foucault multifrequences sont utilises en France a l'echelle industrielle depuis 1975. A la lumiere de l'experience acquise au cours de tres nombreuses inspections de generateur de vapeur on applique cette technique a l'examen d'echangeurs tubulaires comportant des tubes de nuances tres differentes comme le cuivre, l'acier inoxydable et le titane. On rappelle d'abord le principe des examens par courants de Foucault multifrequences en prenant l'exemple d'un condenseur avec tubes en alliage de nickel (Inconel, Incoloy..); dans un deuxieme temps on decrit une application particuliere de cette technique dans le cas d'un condenseur a tubes titane, examine avec une sonde ponctuelle tournanteAdditional details
