Hyperfine magnetic fields on 57Fe and 119Sn nuclei in antiferromagnetic FeSn2 under pressure

Description

The pressure (up to 14 kbar) and temperature dependences of hyperfine magnetic fields on 57Fe and 119Sn nuclei in antiferromagnetic intermetallic compound FeSn2 are investigated by the γ resonance spectroscopy. At 77 K the hyperfine fields on 57Fe and 119Sn nuclei are respectively 153.1+-0.3 kOe and 35.7+-2.5 kOe: the temperature dependences of the fields are the same. The experimental dependences of the relative variations of the hyperfine fields ΔH/H on the pressure for 57Fe and 119Sn are identical. The shift of the Neel temperature under pressure is determined by the temperature scanning method and is deltaTsub(N)/deltap=1.7+-0.4 degreexkbar-1. After a correction for the Tsub(N)(p) dependence for fields on 57Fe and 119Sn nuclei, the value (-3.2+-0.4)x10-3 kbar-1 is obtained. The implication is that there are no competing contributions to the field on 119Sn nuclei in the antiferromagnetic FeSn2 matrix, whereas the changes in the fields for both 57Fe and 119Sn are proportional to the changes in the magnetizations of the magnetic sublattices
