Quality assurance system of building and assembly works at the Paks nuclear power plant and experiences in quality control

Description
The principles of quality assurance system used in the construction of the first NPP in Hungary are summarized. Four hierarchic control levels are distinguished. Nuclear facilities, building and assembly technologies which are involved in the control system are listed. According to the 'super' controls carried out by special central institutes, the nuclear facilities of units 1-4 meet the demands of safety from architectural point of view. The most significant 'super' controls were the following: studies on heavy concretes, H2 containing concretes, reinforced concrete structures, the weldings of steel structures, water-proof isolation, and on quality documentation of building and assembly works.
