An adjustable shorting rod for a 3 MV Van de Graaff generator
- 1. Rijksuniversiteit Utrecht (Netherlands). Fysisch Lab.
Description
The energy range of a 3 MV Van de Graaff accelerator has been extended to lower energies by using a shorting rod assembly. Useful beam currents are now available at terminal voltages as low as 300 kV. With the help of a simplified model for the accelerating tube the influence of the shorting rod will be explained.
