This presentation briefly describes the role and workings of the various bodies within the European Commission in devising and implementing the basic standards defined in the Treaty establishing European Atomic Energy Community. Provision of guidelines for the verification of dosimetry services through intercomparison programmes at Community level is also an important task of the Commission
