Measurement of e and X betatron beams of an energy of up to 42 MeV

Description
A set of questions is discussed which have to be solved in the dosimetry of betatron beams. The technical specifications are given of the Siemens 42 MeV betatron and methods are described of measuring the energy of fast electrons by determining the electron range in a medium and by activating threshold detectors. Another characteristic of the betatron beam are the depth dose curves of electron radiation and of bremsstrahlung and the distribution of the dose in the central ray and in the planes normal to it (the homogeneity of fields). The methods are indicated of primary standardization of the electron beam and the bremsstrahlung radiation beam as well as of first and 2nd order secondary standardization. (B.S.)
