Performance of a prototype detector system for thermal neutrons based on laser stimulated luminescence

  • 1. Technische Univ. Muenchen, Garching (Germany). Fakultaet fuer Physik

Description

A prototype of a position sensitive detector system for thermal neutrons utilizing X-ray storage phosphors has been developed. An overview of the functional principle is given and a quantitative characterisation of detector properties such as linearity, dynamic range, neutron and γ-sensitivity, spatial resolution and detective quantum efficiency is presented. The applicability of the system for neutron radiography is demonstrated. ((orig.))
