Radiological changes in the region of the patella in chronic alcoholics

Description

The author has reviewed the changes in the patello-femoral joint seen on plain films in 41 male alcoholics. These are due to the effect of hyperlipoproteinaemia type IV on the patello-femoral joint. These joints show bilateral secondary arthrosis. At the same time as these erosions and defects of the articular surface develop, there are also changes in the femoro-tibial joint. (orig.)

Abstract (German)

Der Verfasser hat auf den nativen Uebersichtsaufnahmen der femoropatellaren Gelenke von 41 maennlichen Alkoholikern die roentgen-morphologischen Veraenderungen untersucht, die durch die Einwirkung von Hyperlipoproteinaemie Typ IV im femoropatellaren Gelenk zustande kamen. In den patellofemoralen Gelenken zeigte sich auf beiden Seiten eine sekundaere Arthrose. Gleichzeitig mit den Erosionen und Defekten der Gelenkflaeche der Patella erscheinen auch Veraenderungen in den femorotibialen Gelenken. (orig.)
