The statistical distribution of random s-matrix elements and its implications for nuclear reaction theory
Description
Direct nuclear reactions are described by the slowly-varying or energy-averaged part of the total S-matrix. The connection between the fluctuating parts of S and experimentally observable quantities such as compound nucleus cross sections and correlation functions are discussed. In particular new formulas for the analysis of Ericson fluctuations are presented
