Experience in radioactive waste management at the soviet radiochemical plant and the main approaches to development of reliable waste confinement
Description
The paper reviews some past experiences in the radioactive waste management area including an accident in 1957 with storage of high-level liquid radioactive waste at a reprocessing plant. A recent revision of the experiences in radioactive waste management has led to the development of a draft concept for the main principles of the state policy on radioactive waste disposal. These principles are outlined in the paper stressing the need for extensive international cooperation in this field. 5 refs
