Description
The paper presents the results obtained in constructing and implementing a general framework for comprehensive comparative assessment within the inter-agency joint project on databases and methodologies for comparative assessment of different energy sources for electricity generation (DECADES). A short description of the DECADES project structure and the main components is given. The technology inventory databases, which are a major part of the project, address all levels of different energy chains, from fuel extraction through electricity generation to waste disposal. The concept and content of the reference technology database (RTDB) are introduced, and the present status and planned future developments are described in the paper. 5 refs, 24 figs, 2 tabs
