Thermal fluctuations in heavy-ion fusion reactions
Description
A classical description of heavy ion fusion reactions is presented. The model considers: a small number of collective degrees of freedom which evolve in time according to classical equations of motion; conservative forces, which describe the static properties of the nuclear system; and dissipative forces, which describe the irreversible exchange of energy between the macroscopic and microscopic degrees of freedom.
