Description
The electron pair correlation function in beryllium has been measured using x-ray scattering. The results show some structure not present in the free atom calculation. The valence-electron correlation function has been deduced from the experimental data. Assuming that such a correlation function is representative for an electron gas with rsub(s)=2.072, a small but significant correction to the jellium correlation energy at metallic density is deduced.
