Experience with ion plating of tools: production and performance
Description
Consideration is given to the factors in the manufacture and cleaning of tools prior to ion plating which influence the quality of the coating. Final inspection techniques are also considered. The manufacturing process and geometry of the tools often have to be adapted, but given this, experience has shown that ion plating of tools based on TiN has become a very reliable procedure. The effect of such coatings on a variety of tools is described. (author)
