Description
Tarapur Atomic Power Station (TAPS) has two Boiling Water Reactors (BWRs). These reactors are designed to be fuelled with enriched uranium oxide. These reactors are refuelled in batch refuelling which is responsible for pre-determined duration for power operation. This duration is called as cycle length. The length of present cycles is about 6.0 GWD/ST (i.e. 277000 MWD or ∼ 18 months). The power operation of the reactors of longer cycle lengths about 7.0 GWD/ST (i.e.306400 MWD or ∼ 21 months) is being actively considered. The present paper describes the results of the above study
