The paper summarizes the fundamental results of research in the field of a scientific-technical project covering the improvement and verification of procedures and means for the assessment and demonstration of nuclear safety level in Slovak NPPs. The paper focuses also on the: 1. Evaluation of metal structural material degradation of important components; 2. Quality and reliability assessment of programmable components in safety systems; 3. procedures for crisis management of emergency situations accompanied by releases of radioactive and chemical substances; 4. Development of transmutation technology for the management of spent nuclear fuel; 5. Evaluation of the impact of human factor on plant operation; 6.Enhancement of plant personnel training by means of multimedia programs based on Computer Based Training (Author)
