Description

High intensity arc driven ion source system is under development to achieve average 5 mA current and 8 MeV energy proton beam for the iBNCT next stage experiments. A lanthanum hexaboride (LaB6) filament is installed to multi-cusp ion source chamber with magnetic filter. The peak beam current from the ion source observed was 53 mA. Also, a new long pulse arc pulser power supply (PS) has been developed. The PS can generate arc plasma current up to 50 A and voltage up to 120 V with 10 % duty factor. (author)
