14 MeV neutron irradiation experiment for low activation concrete

Description
A low activation concrete was developed. A part of its cement is changed by lime powders used as aggregate. The activation properties were evaluated by the 14 MeV neutron irradiation experiment. The result showed that the induced radioactivity of 24Na decreased about 1/7 times than the ordinary concrete. The low activation concrete will be applied to the irradiation shielding materials for the nuclear power plants, particles accelerator facilities, and medical irradiation facilities. Design of mixing, basic concept of mixing, materials, activation of concrete, amount of total sodium, chemical analysis, neutron irradiation experiment, and examples of execution are stated. (S.Y.)
