Description
The process of preparing ammonium diuranate with high quality and coarse grain is presented, which was precipitated by the fluidization technique in the sulphuric acid ammonium sulphate or sulphuric acid-chloride solution systems. In the sulphuric acid-ammonium sulphate or sulphuric acid-chloride solution systems. In the sulphuric acid-ammonium sulphate solution system. the product obtained by the conventional agitation-precipitation method contained 63.18% of U and 13.3% of SO42-, and the percentage of particles with diameter ≥40 μm was 33.19%. Under the optimum conditions the values were 69.94%, 3.7% and 75.87% respectively with the fluidization technique. In the sulphuric acid-chloride solution system, the product obtained by the agitation method in the mill contained 58% of U and 5% of cl-, and the percentage of particles with size ≥40 μm was 1.6%. Using the fluidization method the values were 68%, 0.22% and 41.46% respectively. The diameter and height of the tested fluidized-bed equipment were 400 mm and 3200 mm. Its structure was simple, and it had good adaptability for variation in the solution concentration. It was operated easily and steadily and it is expected to have broad industrial use
