Study on radiation-vulcanized EPDM filled with nano-filler
- 1. China Academy of Sciences, Mianyang (China). Inst. of Nuclear Physics and Chemistry
Description
Ethylene-propylene diene terpolymer (EPDM) has been vulcanized by means of 60Co radiation, filled with three kinds of particle namely, nano-SiO2, nano-CaCO3 or nano-SiO2/CaCO3. The influence of PFM, filler category and content on the mechanical properties, and particle dispersion of radiation-vulcanized EPDM was investigated. It is revealed that the reinforcing effect of nano-SiO2 is better than that of nano-CaCO3 or nano-SiO2/CaCO3. The tensile strength, elongation break and modulus of EPDM filled with 40% nano-SiO2 are better, and the dispersion of particles is homogenous in matrix at the same condition. (authors)
