Temperature dependence of uranium fission tracks and thermal age determination in apatite
Creators
Description
The fission track length method for determining the age of mineral samples, after D.A. Young, Maerk and McDowell, is described. The samples used were mainly ores from Durango (Mexico) and a method of visualising fission tracks by optical microscopy is described based on etching after neutron irradiation. Differences between age determinations by various methods are analysed. The expression used for fission track age determination is due to Price and Walker. (G.M.E.)
