Description
Some processes of radiation emulsion polymerization promising industrially are discussed. The process of emulsion postpolymerization induced by gamma-rays is of practical interest because of low cost of initiation; besides, the polymer produced in this case has extremely high molecular mass, usually more than 107. Gamma-initiated copolymerization of styrene and α-methylstyrene is characterized by the production of a high molecular mass copolymer at high reaction rate. Radiation emulsion polymerization is a versatile method of producing latexes of acrylic polymers. (author)
