Description
It is necessary to construct near surface repositories for the safe disposal of low and intermediate solid radioactive wastes (LIRW), because it is an effective way to reduce the environmental risks in managing LIRW as well as its impacts to the public and environment. Planning and siting near surface repositories on a whole county basis contribute to a rational distribution of repositories, good use of resources, and also the impact reduction of the public and environment. To reduce environmental impacts while implementing the siting plan, an environmental impact assessment (EIA) on The Siting Plan of LIRW Near Surface Repositories of China is needed. How to carry out this kind of assessment is discussed in this paper. (authors)
