Kinetic characteristics of the chlorination of actinide and fission elements in chloride melts. 1. Plutonium phosphate

Description

This paper presents a kinetic investigation of the reaction of plutonium phosphate with chlorine in a melt of sodium and potassium chlorides. The effects of the temperature and the gas flow rate on the rate of the chlorination process have been studied. Kinetic parameters of the reaction (rate constants, activation energy) have been calculated. The results of the analyses are presented in the form of kinetic curves. The rate of buildup of plutonium in the melt increased with rising temperature and with an increase of the chlorine feed rate
