An evaluation method of the fluid enthalpy factors accordingly the rod bundle subchannels

Description

Usual thermal-hydraulic subchannel analysis of nuclear fuel assemblies, allows determining fluid enthalpy factors and, accordingly, the hot subchannel factor. In this paper, a method for enthalpy factors calculation, based upon a dimensionless parameter - a normalized fluid enthalpy - is proposed. This parameter when computed with available subchannel exit enthalpy data, obtained from experiments carried out with a nine heated tube bundle, shows an asymptotic trend to equilibrium values, function of the subchannel types and transverse tube wall heat flux tilts, when increasing the coolant flow. Developed correlations allow evaluat ng bundle subchannel enthalpy factors. (Author)

Abstract (Portuguese)

A analise termohidraulica por subcanais de feixes combustiveis nucleares permite determinar os fatores de entalpia de fluido, em decorrencia, o fator de subcanal quente. Neste trabalho, e proposto um metodo, baseado em parametro adimensional - uma entalpia normalizada de fluido -, para calculo desses fatores. Este parametro, aplicado a valores disponiveis de entalpia, a saida de subcanais tipicos de um feixe de nove tubos aquecidos, apresenta uma tendencia assintotica a valores de equilibrio, funcao dos tipos de subcanais e da distribuicao transversal de fluxo de calor nos tubos, quando se aumenta a vazao do escoamento. Correlacoes desenvolvidas permitem a avaliacao dos fatores de entalpia relativos aos subcanais do feixe. (Autor)
