The effect of ecdysterone on 3H-uridine incorporation into fat body RNA in caterpillars of Celerio euphorbiae L. (Lepidoptera)

  • 1. Polska Akademia Nauk, Warsaw. Instytut Biochemii i Biofizyki

Description

It was found that ecdysterone exerts an inhibitory effect on the incorporation of tritium-labelled uridine into RNA of the fat body of Celerio euphorbiae caterpillars on the 5th day of the 5 developmental stage. This inhibition persisted during the first 2 h after hormone administration, somewhat decreased after 4 h, and was completely abolished after 6 h. At the same time it was found that the same dose of ecdysterone (10 μg/specimen) causes a twofold increase in the 14C-leucine incorporation into proteins of the fat body of these caterpillars.
