High dose dosimetry. Comparative techniques
Description
High dose dosimetry (5 x 104 Gy >) is a matter of present interest due to its applications in the search of new materials for advanced reactor as well as for nuclear accident dosimetry. Likewise, future high intensity irradiation techniques (gamma rays and electrons) will require precise methods for dose determination. Therefore, some research becomes important for the high dose region. This work describes the experiments performed to design solid dosimetric systems using pure salts of heptahydrated ferrous sulphate and tetrahydrated cerium (IV) sulphate. The evaluation of induced gamma radiolytic changes was made spectrophotometrically. Some conclusion are obtained about the characteristic of dosimetric systems, linearity, dose rate influence, etc. In the heptahydrated ferrous sulphate system a comparison was made between the sensibility of this measurement method of Fe (III) and that by means of Moessbauer spectroscopy
