Description

A differential-encircling-type eddy-current probe was designed and fabricated to defects in nuclear fuel rods. The defect resolution and the signal amplitude of the probe markedly depended on the coil length, the coil spacing, and the number of coil turns. The optimized dimensions of the differential encircling probe were a 0.6-mm coil length, a 0.6-mm coil spacing, and 50 coil-turns. (author)
