Electrodisintegration experiments and virtual photon theory
Description
Experiments on inelastic scattering of electrons and electrodisintegration of heavy nuclei as well as fission of these nuclei in (α, α', f) and (6Li, 6Li', f) reactions are revieWed. Different excited states of finite nuclei are studied by means of measuring energy spectra of scattered electrons. Calculated energy spectra of emitted protons and α-particles in (e, α) and (e, p) reactions on nuclei of 64Zn type and E2-component in channels of uranium isotope decay as well as strength functions and decay widths of these isotopes at energies from 2.2 to 11 MeV are given. Cross sections of photodisintegration and electrodisintegration of 56Fe, 59Co, 64Zn, sup(58, 60, 62)Ni intermediate nuclei are investigated. Energy dependences of 197Au(e, n)196Au and 64Zr(e, α) or 64Zr(γ, α) reaction cross sections are given. The auther considers that the method of virtual photons used for the analysis has some advantages as compared with other approaches and it is deprived of such shortcomings as radiation limitations of inelastic electron interaction
