Use of digital I+C to upgrade BWRs
Description
The first replacement of an old conventional analog control system with a modern digital one in a Swedish reactor (Oskarshamn-1, an ABB Atom BWR commissioned in 1972) took place in 1986. Several major success factors were responsible for the replacement of old technology with digital systems. ABB Atom has decided to use ABB Master as the basic system for both the new plant design BWR-90 and as a replacement system for operating plants
