Energy and momentum flow in electromagnetic fields and plasma

  • 1. Utah State Univ., Logan (USA). Center for Atmospheric and Space Sciences

Description

Macroscopic flow of energy and momentum between the solar wind and outer magnetosphere is considered. It is pointed out that using the integral form of magnetohydrodynamic equations is more natural than the differential form for consideration of energy and momentum flows and should yield more accurate results from magnetic field data. The notation of general relativity is used because it is straightforward and brief. (author)
