Density fluctuations in Heliotron E measured using CO2 laser phase contrast method

Description
Density fluctuations in neutral beam injection (NBI) plasmas in Heliotron E were studied using the laser phase contrast method. A counter-propagating pair of waves, electron mode and ion mode, was observed in the edge region. Their dependences on the ion and electron temperatures are discussed in an experiment where electron cyclotron heating pulses were superposed on the NBI plasmas. (orig.)
