Character variation of advanced generations of adzuki bean induced by space environment and selection tactics

Description
Advanced generations of large seed mutant from adzuki bean cv Xiongxianhong induced by space environment was analyzed for genetic variation. The results obtained are as follows. (1) It was effective to select large seed character; (2) while selecting for large seeds, other agronomic characters were improved with quite large genetic variation; (3) differences exist among different populations in correlation among agronomic characters. It is considered that while selecting indirectly for target characters such as 100 seed weight, seed yield per plant etc. different tactics should be taken according to which kind of population, family or single plant
